Cynthia Short

Cynthia L. Short is a trial lawyer, mitigation specialist and sentencing advocate. She has 30 years of trial experience and 24 years of Capital Trial experience. Her trial work has been recognized by the Missouri Bar with the Lon O. Hocker Young Trial Lawyer’ s Award and the Defender of Distinction Award. Cyndy is featured in Andrea Lyons book The Feminine Sixth: Women for the Defense. In the years since entering private practice she has earned the KCMBA Best of the Bar designation, and she has been recognized as a Super Lawyer for many years. Cyndy led the Trial Lawyer’s College Death Penalty Program for 14 years during which TLC offered training to capital trial teams. In 2003, Cyndy founded CLS Mitigation & Consulting Services. In capital cases, our group serves as the Mitigation Specialist on capital teams in state, federal and military cases throughout the United States. In non capital cases our group provides sentencing advocacy investigation, including the creation of audio and video exhibits.
