Lonnie Coombs

With over twenty years’ experience as a former criminal prosecutor and legal commentator Loni Coombs can be seen on Oxygen’s upcoming limited series Death At The Mansion: Rebecca Zahau.

Beginning her career as a criminal trial prosecutor for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Loni handled numerous felony trials from murders to sex crimes and DUIs. She continued her work in the “Crimes Against Peace Officers” unit, prosecuting criminals who seriously injured or killed police officers and received personal commendations from President Clinton and US Secret Service Director L.J. Bowron for her instrumental work.

In 2001, as Deputy in Charge of the District Attorney's Malibu Office, she handled several cases that involved high-profile celebrities. From 2003 to 2005, Loni headed up the District Attorney’s Hate Crimes Unit, monitoring discrimination cases throughout the county and training law enforcement agencies.

In 2006, Loni left the DA's office and transitioned into the broadcast world as a legal analyst for both national and local broadcast outlets. She has been on the frontlines of numerous high-profile trials including the OJ Simpson, Casey Anthony, Jodi Arias and George Zimmerman cases. She received an AP Award for her gavel coverage on the Phil Spector murder trial for KTLA. Whether anchoring newscasts or reporting from the field, Loni strongly believes that no stone should be left unturned when pursuing the truth.
