Common Questions

See some common questions and answers below, or contact us here.
  • What is the difference between Standard & VIP badges?

STANDARD badges get you access to all sessions except for VIP sessions. Unlike a typical "Con" there are no fees for additional things during the Con. Things like meet & greets, book signings, etc. are all included. The only things that a STANDARD badge will not get you in to are VIP-only events. This includes most food and beverage based sessions, like dinners, plus some programming.

  • Do I need to register for sessions that I want to attend?

With very few exceptions, NO! Our format is first come, first served and you will map out your own path through the weekend. The only exceptions to this are things where we clearly indicate on the schedule that pre-registration is required. That is pretty rare and usually only applies to VIP or food/bev related events.

  • Do you offer single day passes?

Day passes will only be offered if weekend badges are not sold out. We typically decide around 30 days prior to each event if there is enough capacity to warrant single day passes.

If day passes become available they will first be announced to our free  email so please be sure to add yourself to that list

Note that Single Day Passes often exclude some "experience" type sessions. Specific exclusions will be listed on the sales page if passes become available.

  • When do you announce speakers and podcasts?

Each event is a little bit different. For NOLA we started guest announcements in January. We'll then make additional announcements in batches all the way up through the event. We like to ensure there's a little mystery!

  • When do you announce the full weekend schedule?

Usually about 30-45 days prior to the event. We'll blast out an email and also update this landing page when it's ready.

  • Does the ticket price include accommodations and meals?

No, meals and hotel are not included in the ticket price. We do have a discounted rate at our host hotel, The Hilton New Orleans Riverside, that can be booked here. There is one dinner provided for VIP ticket holders only on Saturday night.

  • Do I have to stay at the host hotel?

No, but you'll miss all of the amazing things that happen in the hallways, bars, and restaurants if you don't! We like to say that 75% of the CrimeCon experience can be planned in advance because it happens in the ballrooms, but the other 25% is about all of the impromptu moments that happen in the hotel. Don't miss out!

  • Is parking provided?

CrimeCon attendees receive a discounted rate of $25/day (regularly $44) to park at the hotel.

  • For the sake of booking travel, what time can I expect CrimeCon to start and end?

The convention will officially begin around 12pm on Friday, June 7th and end by 2:00pm on Sunday, June 9th. It is possible that separately ticketed events could be added prior to the start time on Friday and/or after the end time on Sunday. There may also be add-on events available on Thursday evening.

  • When will I receive my badge(s)?

Badges are picked up onsite during registration and will NOT be mailed out prior. To pick up your badge, please bring a copy of your photo ID.

  • Can I cancel or change my tickets?

No cash refunds are permitted under any circumstance, but if you can no longer attend there are two options: a) A badge transfer to another person ($20 fee per badge applies); or b) Receive a voucher code for 100% of the amount paid, which can be used against any future CrimeCon event.

To start a secure badge transfer: Once you've located a purchaser please use this form to start the transfer: https://CrimeCon.regfox.com/cc19/transfer. Note that the system will automatically refund you (less the fee) and charge the purchaser for the badge.

Both options require that you notify us as least 72 hours before the start of the event. Please read the full Terms & Conditions on the registration page for all the details.

To request a voucher: Simply email us from your registered account, subject: Voucher, and let us know that you authorize the cancellation of your registration and the issuance of a voucher. This is not reversible once completed. The voucher code will be sent to your registered email address.

  • What is the dress code?

The dress code for the convention itself is casual.

If any evening events have specific dress codes it will be detailed on the registration page for that event.

Cosplay (or dressing up in theme or as a character) is prohibited as creating an environment of respect and learning is paramount. If you have any questions on what may or may not be allowed inside our space please email us in advance to discuss.

  • Do you offer discounts for groups, students, law enforcement or military?

We do offer discounts on Standard tickets (no VIP) for students, teachers, law enforcement & military personnel. Please contact us if you qualify. You may be asked to provide appropriate credentials upon badge pick-up on site.

If you have a group of 10+, please contact us  for special pricing.

  • What should I bring to CrimeCon?

In order to pick up your badge, please bring a copy of your photo ID.

We also suggest you pack comfortable shoes, a sweatshirt or sweater (New Orleans in June is hot but hotel ballrooms are not!), snacks (food can be hard to come by during the weekend and the schedule is packed), a notebook, a reusable water bottle, and a camera!

  • Can I volunteer?

Yes, please! CrimeCon wouldn't be possible without our volunteers. If you want a less expensive way in, this is it. We'll trade work for badges--just fill out THIS FORM and we'll be in touch.

Note: We typically don't know our volunteer needs until 60-90 days prior to the event. Therefore we recommend that you purchase a badge early for best pricing and availability. If you are subsequently selected to volunteer we will refund your purchase in full (Standard badges only).

  • Do you offer Media Credentials?

Yes, we do provide a limited amount of credentials to select media. Please fill out our media form to be entered into our database. Our media relations staff will be in touch about 30-60 days prior to the event to discuss your request.

  • Can I be a speaker at CrimeCon?

We'd love to talk and hear more about your experiences. Please fill out our guest inquiry form and select the event(s) you are interested in. Our producers will be in touch if we see a fit.

  • I'm a true crime content creator (like a podcaster, blogger, writer, or filmmaker) and I'd like to be at CrimeCon.

Part of our mission is to help fans discover a bunch of new content and creators to add to the watching, listening, and reading portfolio.

Podcasters: We select a limited number of podcasts each year to be featured in the event. Please fill out our Podcast Form to be put on the list for considerastion.

Other Creators: Please fill out our general Speaker Inquiry form.
